Yesterday, Google Alerts brought me a notice of the book The Sticky Situations of Zwicky Fingers, by Rhys Hughes (available through the Smashwords site — “your ebook, your way”). Here’s the author’s enthusiastic blurb:
Zwicky Fingers is a giant fruit bat detective who lives in the past, present and future simultaneously. He is often consulted by the police force when there are paradoxical, lateral or impossible crimes to be solved. His sticky situations are ten tricky cases, one for each finger of a hand; but a hand belonging to whom?
That’s just one of the mysteries you may or may not encounter when you join Zwicky on this decathlon of Calvinoesque whimsies! Prepare yourself to meet Mr Hyde and Dr Seek, the Sock Camels, the werewolf who prefers muesli to flesh, and many other curious beings in a world that isn’t quite like our own…
I assume the Zwicky in the name is an allusion to the astronomer Fritz Zwicky, not any of the rest of us.
I am a writer of Fantasy, Speculative Fiction and Magic Realism who often uses comedy and absurdism to examine philosophical issues. I am known for my original ideas, intricate plots and entertaining wordplay! I write short stories, novellas and novels.
I’m not sure that the name Zwicky Fingers is enough to move me to buy the book.
