Thesaurus rex

Mentioned in passing on the public radio show Sez You! today, the punning Thesaurus rex. Often played with, as in this children’s book:

Follow this mischievous dinosaur as he frolics, rollicks, frisks and romps. Each colorful page introduces simple synonyms and a fun-filled way to build vocabulary and word recognition. (Ages 3 to 7 years)

And in this cartoon:

Earlier postings featured portmanteaus involving Tyrannosaurus: Trannysaurus herefagosaurus, gayosaurus, homosaurus, and pansysaurus here.

On the radio program:

Says You! is an American panel radio show produced and distributed by Pipit & Finch in the United States. Although many NPR stations carry it, it is independently produced. It was created by host Richard Sher, and is produced in Boston, Massachusetts. Its tagline is “A game of bluff and bluster, words and whimsy.” It has a similar format to the long-running BBC program My Word! (1956–1990). (link)
